Teaching Geometry Chapter 7-Similarity
Scale drawings and models are used for designing and constructing objects we use and see every day. Whether they are small components for electronic devices or large mechanical parts for nuclear plants, scale drawings, which use similarity, are critical. Similarity is also used to measure objects that we cannot access directly or to think about what happens when we reduce or enlarge an image. In this chapter, we will use a particular geometric transformation, a dilation, to explore properties of similar objects.
