Teaching Geometry Chapter 4-Geometric Transformations

In this chapter, teachers are introduced to reflections, rotations, and translations using a dynamic geometry environment (DGE). Teachers focus on the different ways preimage and image points under different transformations behave when a point is dragged. The importance of considering points that are fixed by each transformation is presented as an important feature on which to focus. Additional properties of each of these transformations are introduced and common student conceptions are presented.
