Data Science Education K-12 Research to Practice Conference

Location: San Antonio, TX, on the Riverwalk

Through collaborative sessions, innovative formats, and a supportive community, this inaugural conference will offer a dynamic atmosphere for educators, researchers, curriculum developers, and school leaders to exchange ideas and co-create the future of data science education in K-12. The theme of the inaugural conference is Addressing the Human Dimensions of Data, with keynote speaker, Dr. Talitha Washington.

2025 U.S. Conference on Teaching Statistics

Dates: July 15-19, 2025
Location: Ames, IA, at Iowa State University

CAUSE has held the United States Conference on Teaching Statistics (USCOTS) every other year since 2005. The 2025 USCOTS will include workshops, a research satellite conference, plenaries, breakout sessions, and posters. The conference is a great way to learn more about instructional strategies for college-level statistics and teacher education, as well as the latest research in these contexts.

Deadline for proposing a pre-conference workshop or breakout session is December 10th.

In this November edition of the JSDSE/CAUSE webinar series, we highlight the 2024 article Simulation-Based Inference: Random Sampling vs. Random Assignment? What Instructors Should Know. This session explores how different simulation strategies affect students’ understanding of inferential reasoning and the analysis of two variables. Presenters will discuss whether it matters if simulations model random sampling or random assignment, with examples from comparing means and linear regression, and explore extensions enabled by simulation-based inference.
