The 5-year project funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH<\/a>) provides professional development (PD) in environmental health research<\/strong> experiences for science high-school teachers from schools with high-poverty levels in North Carolina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Science teachers and\/or preservice teachers participate in an 8-week professional development program<\/strong> at NC State University, hosted by CHHE<\/a>. The PD program provides teachers with immersive lab research experiences<\/strong> under the guidance of a mentor scientist. Additionally, educational and outreach activities<\/strong> are embedded in the program to support teachers’ development of content and pedagogical knowledge in environmental health sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n
