Project Description
The 5-year project funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) provides professional development (PD) in environmental health research experiences for science high-school teachers from schools with high-poverty levels in North Carolina.
Science teachers and/or preservice teachers participate in an 8-week professional development program at NC State University, hosted by CHHE. The PD program provides teachers with immersive lab research experiences under the guidance of a mentor scientist. Additionally, educational and outreach activities are embedded in the program to support teachers’ development of content and pedagogical knowledge in environmental health sciences.
